Cannabis And Food Pairings: Enhance Your Vaping Experience

CANNABIS AND FOOD PAIRINGS: ENHANCE YOUR EXPERIENCE

Many Australian cannabis users are now looking to match their flowers and concentrates with various foods to improve their experience, just as people have paired wine with meals to enhance their flavour for centuries.

There are many healthy and delicious foods that can improve and extend your cannabis experience. The key is selecting foods that have terpenes similar to the herbs you are running through your vaporizer.

What are terpenes?

Terpenes are a class of aromatic organic hydrocarbons, meaning they are comprised of just carbon and hydrogen atoms. They are found in many other herbs, fruits and plants - not just cannabis - and are the building blocks for essential oils. Terpenes bind to receptors throughout the body and brain to give rise to various effects. They can even influence neurotransmitters in the brain such as dopamine and serotonin. The terpene limonene, for example - responsible for the citrus smell in many plants - can actually increase serotonin production in the brain, thus elevating mood.

It’s time to put down the lollies and learn about the healthy options in your cupboard that will enhance your herbal vaping sessions! Here are 6 foods to pair with your cannabis for enhanced effects…

Mangoes:

Mangoes are not only delicious, but they also contain the terpene Myrcene (found in Cannabis.) Myrcene has a very strong aroma and can help cannabinoids to penetrate the blood-brain barrier, effectively making cannabinoids more efficient. Mangoes are also packed full of antioxidants, so you can feel good about this healthy snack.

Fun Fact – Australia produces around 46, 000 tonnes of mangoes annually!

Black + Green Tea:

There’s nothing quite like sitting back with a warm cup of green tea and enjoying some flavour filled hits through your Crave Onix Vaporizer! You will be pleased to know that this type of tea contains Catechin, a powerful antioxidant that binds to your CB1 receptors (the same receptors as Cannabis) and helps to lower stress and improve your mood. Why not make Cannabis infused tea with your AVB and get the best of both worlds?

Nuts:

Nuts contain high levels of Omega-3 fatty acids, which bind to cannabinoids and help them through the blood-brain barrier must faster than usual. This means your cannabis experience will have a much faster onset when eating nuts and will last much longer than usual. Put down those unhealthy, processed munchies and pick up some nuts!

You will be pleased to know that Australia produces many types of delicious nuts including Macadamias, Almonds, Pecans and Pistachios.

Lemongrass + Thyme:

Lemongrass contains the aromatic terpene called Limonene. This can help with serotonin production in the brain and assists with mood elevation. Thyme contains the terpene Pinene, which helps to improve airflow to the lungs and subsequently elevates your cannabis experience. It also helps to provide alertness and focus.

You can also choose to load your Vaporizer with dried lemongrass to assist with pain and inflammation!

Hemp Seeds:

Hemp seeds are not only extremely beneficial to our health; they can also enhance your cannabis experience! Like nuts, they contain high levels of Omega-3 fatty acids. They also contain high levels of Omega-6 (cutting the onset time of your cannabis experience and increasing the duration.)

Herbs + Spices:

Many herbs and spices such as Bay Leaves and Sage contain the terpene Pinene (a natural Bronchodilator that aids with breathing.) Black Pepper is fantastic for decreasing any potentially negative side effects of a high THC strain of cannabis.

In summary, there are many reasons why you should put down those unhealthy munchies and pick up some healthy alternatives! There are many food options to enhance your vaping experience and it is best to experiment with the above to find out what works best for you.
